Status: Official
FSpace Publications takes privacy seriously. We comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 (replacing the previously supported 1993 Act) and other New Zealand legislation as it pertains to privacy, unsolicited messages etc.
Our financial accounts are given to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) every year, and those accounts may include personal names for sales records. New Zealand Courts, the Police and a variety of government departments have legislated rights to request and access private information for their mandated purposes. Where we are allowed under those regulations, we will inform you of any special access requests.
We do use 3rd party services which collect information for the purposes of data collection.
We have used Adobe Flash-based technology on some parts of our website (for simple media purposes) in the past. We do not fully understand the degree of information Adobe or other actors were able to collect via this technology platform. We advise caution. We are endeavouring to replace this with more open standards that rely solely on the browser, rather than closed technology controlled by Adobe. Refer to Adobe and other parties investigating Adobe for details on the impact of this technology on your privacy. We do not engineer any of our Flash solutions to snoop on you or collect any kind of information on their own.
Emails and form submissions may be kept for a variety of reasons. Some material may be published on this website. Others will be shared with blacklist services to reduce the amount of spam email circulating around the internet and improve the quality of service for the web for everyone.
Data is stored on this server, our backup server, hard drives, NASs and other company machines. These are owned by the company, are not leased, or maintained/owned by third parties, except in the case of the primary web server which is now a Hostgator provided service. We do store our financial records and some other documentation including private information offsite with Cloud storage services. We do use Microsoft Forms for some form submission purposes and those submissions are stored and subject to Microsoft’s terms for that service.
We do not use third party marketing, mass email or other services that use personal information collected via this website etc. We do not sell your contact information to other parties, or give it away, except as mentioned elsewhere in this declaration.
Our email is managed by Apple, Google, Hostgator and Microsoft. Storage of email on their servers are subject to their terms of service, and it is known that Google and Microsoft actively scan and sample content.
As our business sells our products through other vendor channels, depending on the policies of those vendors, we may have access to certain personal information. For instance Trademe and those people who purchase our goods are effectively dealing directly with us (through Martin Rait), so we get what all traders receive in terms of being able to complete physical sales. We keep this information to comply with IRD tax reasons. Other vendors, such as OneBookShelf, give us access to client email addresses, where such clients have consented to permission to share their email with vendors from whom they purchased goods. We may use OneBookShelf’s customer email tools to contact customers, or use the email address list available to us to contact customers directly.
We also run our own mailing list server and other subscription-based online services. Each of those services operates its own mechanism for unsubscribing. All run on the Hostgator service.
Under New Zealand law you have rights to know what we are collecting (as outlined in this statement), and correct it as appropriate. You also have the right to cease receiving communications from us (such as email). If you are receiving emails from us via OneBookShelf’s customer email service from us, we do not have selective control over individual customers. You must remove permission for all publishers listed on the OneBookshelf websites to email you. Contact OneBookshelf for more information.
We are obligated to provide notifications of privacy breaches when they are discovered.
For those customers still using our iOS based applications, you need to be aware that Apple collects personal information on sales and does not share any personal data with its developers, such as ourselves. We largely removed Flurry Analytics software to get some data around usage of our apps (as opposed to sales and updates). Flurry do not share personal information with us, if they are able to collect any. Some of our applications also accessed the internet, and in particular special or normal pages on our own website. At present this means we get some further data from our log analysis, and prior 3rd party services on the website may have collected info (see comment earlier). At present iOS app use is anonymous (from our perspective) unless you inform us of your use. We discontinued these apps and expect their active to diminish in the coming years.
Our software for other platforms, such as for Mac OS X, Windows, Java and Atari ST do not collect any personal information, nor communicate anything back to us regarding usage. Whether you access the software from our website or get it as a downloadable (or sold on media) product from another vendor, any information about the download, web log usage, or sales is subject to the channel you use. Unless we sell directly, we typically have no personal information. Refer to specific vendor comments elsewhere in the declaration.
Our old Android apps have the well-known security flaws inherent to that platform, and used the Google Ad services libraries. We didn’t collect any information beyond that supplied by the Play Store and Google Ad services standard data (we no longer have access to the Play Store as Google cancelled our account after years of inactivity). These apps are now only available via OneBookShelf and only work on old Android devices. We expect usage to cease in the coming years.
Various ebook platform vendors like Amazon, Apple, Google etc provide anonymised data on sales.

PCI Credit Card statement
This website and FSpace Publications do not hold any credit card data, nor process any such data through this or any other system of ours using 3rd party integrated gateways.
Consent
Because we discontinued cookie use, there shouldn’t be anything you need to consent to allow us to use on this site anyway. By continuing to use this website, we consider you to have consented to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. If there is an objection, you may contact the Data Privacy Officer noted at the bottom of this policy.
3rd Party Privacy Policies
This Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers we may use or their websites. We therefore advise you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these 3rd-party advertisers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt out of certain options.
Currently we don’t use any 3rd party advertisers. Everything should be our native-image promotional banners. In future, we expect advertisers to supply an image or text and a hyperlink and not operate any code or cookies on this site. Any tracking they do will be done on the destination pages of any hyperlinks, and therefore outside our management.
Cookies
This website currently does not use any cookies, either from 3rd parties or ourselves.
If you are a repeat visitor, you may still have cookies issues by 3rd parties on our site when we used to use 3rd party services that generated their own cookies. We took the proactive actions of ditching such services.
You can choose to disable cookies through your individual web browser options. To know more detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers, it can be found at the web browser maker’s respective websites.
Log Files
FSpace Publications with www.fspacerpg.com follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this as part of the hosting services’ analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analysing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering basic geographic information.
The hosting vendor we use may use that logging information for their own purposes, and those of their affiliated businesses. We have no control over their use and we are subject to their terms and conditions.
We believe this is the only active tracking and data collection point still in active use for this site. From time to time we may disclose some of the statistics derived from those logs.
CCPA Privacy Policy (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)
We would like to make it clear we do not sell any customer data we might have, but we still need to make you aware under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:
- Request that a business that collects a consumer’s personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
- Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
- Request that a business that sells a consumer’s personal data, not sell the consumer’s personal data.
If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We feel such rights should be extended to more than just California consumers, so will treat any request citing the CCPA with the same dignity.
GDPR Privacy Policy (Data Protection Rights)

- The right to access - You have the right to request copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.

Children’s Information
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. Furthermore we feel many of our products actually need parental consent and advice given some of the themes.
FSpace Publications via www.fspacerpg.com does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website or another channel, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will undertake our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
Data Privacy Officer Martin Rait is the current person in this role. Please see our Contact page to get hold of him.
